Fluency Expectations and Resources

Year One Maths Fluency

Pupils in Year One have a daily Maths fluency lesson of 10-15 mins in addition to their daily Maths lesson. The programme is aimed at strengthening the understanding of number and fluency with number facts.

They will learn to:

  • clearly communicate their mathematical ideas.
  • develop a secure understanding of how to build firm mathematical foundations.
  • use a range of appropriate manipulatives to support their learning.
