Geography

Designed to inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people, our geography curriculum seeks to help pupils understand the space which they inhabit as humans and the wider world around them and develop progressive geographical skills through experiences in the classroom, fieldwork and educational visits.

The curriculum is designed around these following key themes:

  • Locational knowledge and map work
  • Human geography
  • Physical geography
  • Change: past, present and future

During Year 6, we will be focusing on a number of different topics.

Autumn: Improving the Environment

Recognising the importance of renewable energy through investigating wind power. Learning about reducing waste, and the actions that humans can take to improve the environment.

 Spring: On the Move

Understanding push and pull factors in migration from the Northern Triangle to the USA, and from Syria to countries in Europe; understanding the benefits of migration to the UK.

Summer: I am Geographer

Posing questions, completing fieldwork and presenting a geographical investigation.
