LEVEL 3 PASTORAL ASSISTANT

Oldway Primary School, in partnership with Roselands Primary School, formed the Riviera Education Trust in October 2015 and since 1st September 2018 this now also comprises Shiphay Learning Academy.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST

The Governors and Trustees of Oldway Primary are looking to appoint a permanent, part-time (afternoons only) Pastoral Assistant (Level 3) to join our successful and oversubscribed, Outstanding primary school, to start as soon as possible. Oldway is a large, 3-form entry primary school and nursery in the heart of Paignton, Torbay. 

 

The part-time post (17.5 hours) will involve working within a team of Pastoral Assistants under the guidance of the Pastoral Manager to provide support in addressing the needs of pupils to overcome barriers to learning, including social, emotional and mental health needs.  This may include pupils whose progress and emotional well-being is impacted by:

 

  • Attendance and punctuality
  • Anxiety 
  • Bereavement, separation and loss
  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Social communication skills
  • Health 
  • Attachment 
  • Parental support
  • Learning difficulties
  • Disability
  • Mental health

CLASS TEACHER

TEMPORARY TO COVER MATERNITY LEAVE

(2 ½ TERMS UNTIL 18 DECEMBER 2020)

 

The Trustees of Riviera Education Trust and Governors of Oldway Primary School thank you for your interest in the post of KS2 Class Teacher at our Outstanding school. The successful candidate for this temporary position will be expected to take up post on Monday 24 February 2020 and will cover maternity leave until Friday 18 December 2020.

 

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST

The Trustees and Governors seek to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced teacher to join our 3-form entry school in one of our upper KS2 classes in a temporary position to cover maternity leave.

 

You will lead learning and teaching within a class in upper KS2, planning and delivering an exciting, creative and engaging curriculum that meets the needs and interests of all pupils within the class.  You will deploy support staff effectively to support, extend and assess pupils’ learning. Learning will focus on key skills in English and maths as well as social, emotional and personal development and all areas of the National Curriculum. A key aspect of the role will be supporting parents in their children’s learning, developing pupils’ independence and curiosity, monitoring and assessing pupil progress and reporting on progress to parents and senior leaders. You will also be responsible for creating an exciting, stimulating and hands-on learning environment for the pupils in your class.

 

You will be well-supported by Oldway’s Assistant Heads, SENCO and Pastoral Manager as well as in-school Specialist Leaders of Education in English and maths and in-school KS2 Local Authority moderator. You will benefit from a supportive Induction Programme and will be allocated a professional and pastoral mentor as well as Continuing Professional Development and opportunities to engage in action research through Oldway’s lead school status of Torbay Teaching School Alliance. You will also have the opportunity to join a Subject Development Team where you will contribute to the development of a subject or area of school improvement across the school, developing leadership skills.

SALARY

Salary will be in accordance with the Teachers Pay Spine, dependent upon qualifications and experience.

MEAL TIME ASSISTANTS

 

The MTA team are a group of committed staff who support the children at lunchtime in eating and enjoying playtime. The working hours are 1.25 per day, starting salary £9.00 per hour. MTAs receive training throughout the year and many staff go on to become teaching assistants.
